The College of Kansas (KU) Heart for Academic Alternative Packages (CEOP) has been awarded $2.37 million over 5 years for the Heartland School Help Migrant Program (CAMP), a school first-year success program that helps youngsters of migrant agricultural employees.
This system – funded by the U.S. Division of Schooling’s Workplace of Migrant Schooling – goals to assist college students from migratory agricultural backgrounds efficiently begin school to interrupt cycles of poverty and interrupted education that include agricultural work.
“Even when college students from these backgrounds are accepted into school, if they don’t have the total vary of assist companies, the probability of their success is disproportionately diminished,” stated CEOP director Dr. Ngondi Kamaṱuka. “A confluence of socioeconomic disadvantages works towards these college students, however this program offers the kind of assist system that may make all of the distinction between staying in class and thriving, and dropping out.”
The CEOP CAMP – which joins greater than 50 different CAMPs nation-wide – will help these at KU, Kansas Metropolis Kansas Group School, Metropolitan Group School, and Western Iowa Tech Group School.
